Symbol Design Project

This work was done as part of one of my design classes. This project was all about creating a symbol for anything I wanted, so I chose one of my favorite themes—Halloween! I designed a ‘Fright Fest’ symbol to reflect my love for spooky, scary, and fun vibes while still keeping the design bold and memorable

My Process

I started by brainstorming ideas that captured a spooky, scary feel. From there, I sketched out different symbols, patterns, and shapes that I felt best represented the ‘Fright Fest’ vibe

After I had my original ideas thought out, I started to bind the different ideas together to create a new symbol. I repeated this process until I had many different new symbols to work with and tweak.

These symbols to the right are a couple of my combined original symbols, shapes, and patterns blended together to create new shapes.

The Final Symbol

After the symbol was finalized, I decided to make the symbol into more of a cohesive design using a spooky typeface and by adding a halftone effect. This made room for more possibilities rather than just a simple symbol.
