Inspired Matchbook Project

This matchbook was designed as a class project where I was given a movie and tasked to create a matchbook that would have been found in the universe of that movie. The movie I was given was Blade Runner (1982).

Stylistic Choices:

  • Neon palette (pink & blue): Inspired by Blade Runner’s neon-lit cityscape, reflecting the futuristic yet gritty atmosphere.

  • Typography: References the film’s heavy influence of Japanese visual culture.

  • Snake motif: Alludes to Zhora’s artificial snake and the symbolic role of the snake in the story.

  • Snakeskin interior pattern: Connects to the artificial scale Deckard finds, highlighting the theme of the synthetic vs. real.

  • Matte black exterior: Evokes the film’s noir style — dark, moody, and mysterious.
